Anorexia is very dangerous disease. That’s right, don’t kid yourself; it is not just a stage of growing up but it is a dangerous. It is a condition that cannot be left alone but must be dealt with. National Alliance on Mental Ilness maintains, “Anorexia nervosa is a serious, occasionally chronic, and potentially life-threatening eating disorder…” The earlier this condition is recognized and dealt with the easier it is to treat it and to cure it. In this article I present some of the abnormal eating habits that are signs of someone suffering from anorexia.
1. They CONSTANTLY skip meals. They give excuses like, “Not hungry” or “Already ate”, even though you know that they didn’t eat and that they must be hungry.
2. You find laxatives or diuretics in their school bag or in their drawers. Laxatives and diuretics are sold for people with specific gestural problems. If your doctor didn’t diagnose these problems and you are not aware that your child is suffering from these problems, then be on the alert for more signs of anorexia
3. They binge and then they throw up.
4. They weigh the normal weight for a person of their hight but they ONLY eat low calorie food no matter how hungry they are.
5. They chew their food and then they spit it out.
6. They play with the food on their plate but don’t eat it.
If you notice your child engaging in any of these abnormal behaviors then don’t sit by and do nothing. Contact a professional to guide you on how you can help your daughter. Their life may be dependent on it..
